lyrics

The sea Beggars, patriotic and powerful. They were of all classes within society.

And exiled they all, they all became. Poor nobles, adventurers, idle seaman and criminals. A blend of privateers and pirates. With the years, more and more war vessels gathered.

The formation of patriotic powerful military units. Under the command of daring and reckless leaders. The only effective tool William the
Silent had.

The sea Beggars, successful at sea, and opposing the Spanish
oppressors. In England they found safe haven abroad. But by plundering all merchants ships they became drifters again.

1572, their first foothold on native land by the capture of Brielle. Vlissingen followed, and nearby towns dared to declare the revolt. The defeat of Spanish squadrons and relieve of Leiden’s siege.

The ignition of general rebellion and resistance. Decisive in the revoke of the Spanish suppression. The Sea Beggars, recognized as the initiators of the Dutch independence.
